PCR Tests Cork
We are offering PCR swab tests in our Cork clinic that detects active presence of the virus i.e. shows that you currently have COVID-19. PCR tests are considered to be the Gold Standard of testing. These are the tests currently used by the HSE and are approved by the Department of Health (DOH). They are fully compliant with government guidelines. Swabs are analysed in a laboratory with >99% sensitivity and specificity. The lab will inform HSE of any positive results and public health will follow up with you for close contacts.
Price €135 with next day results and QR code for travel
Results are sent directly to the patient via email by the lab. If the result is positive the lab will inform public health and the HSE and one of our GP’s will call you.
Saliva RT-PCR Test
The saliva screening is a less invasive alternative to the nasal/throat swab. It involves collecting 1ml of saliva in a tube and the sample is then analysed in a laboratory. Saliva tests are 96% as accurate as a nasal/throat swab.
You must not smoke, eat or drink for 30 minutes before the test as this can interfere with the testing.
The lab will inform HSE of any positive results and public health will follow up with you for close contacts.

Rapid Antigen test Cork
The COVID-19 antigen test uses a swab to take a sample from your nose. The sample does not need to go to a lab. The test results are quicker than the PCR swab. Your result is available within 15 minutes. Our Rapid Antigen test is CE marked and has a sensitivity of 97.56% and a specificity of >99.9%.
Price €49 with results within 20 minutes and you will be issued with a doctor certificate with the results.
No test is 100% accurate. All tests have limitations. If your test is negative and you continue to have symptoms you should contact your GP.
Who should book a PCR Test?
- If you are travelling most airlines now require a passenger to have a non detected PCR result before flying. We will issue you with a travel certificate and a copy of your lab result to present to the airline.
- If your workplace has required a Covid Swab.
- If you want to book a swab for your own personal reasons.
If you are a close contact and get a non detected result you still need to follow HSE close contact guildlines and restrict your movements (stay at home)
If you are feeling unwell and you are experiencing symptoms of Covid 19 you must start self isolating and contact your GP.
Please note you are still required to follow Public Health guidelines on self isolation if you have returned from another country.

Result Turnaround
We aim to provide next day results Monday to Friday. If the lab is not busy it is likely to return that same evening. However we cannot guarantee swab turn around times as there may be unforeseen delays in the lab which are outside our control .

If the swab is required for travel purposes MyCorkGP.ie does not take any responsibility for any passenger’s travel itinerary. If the result is not back on-time for your flight we cannot take responsibility for this.

Cancellation Policy
MyCorkGP.ie does not take any responsibility for any passenger’s travel itinerary.
It is the sole responsibility of the passenger/patient to ensure they take the test at the correct date / time
in advance to satisfy their airlines travel / check in requirements.
Appointments cancelled more then 2 days before your appointment date are subject to a €50 cancellation fee. Appointments cancelled up to 48 hours before your appointment are non refundable but can be changed to a future date. Appointments cancelled on the day are non refundable and cannot be rescheduled to a different date.
